Light Way's Philosophy of Educational Leadership

A leader in education defines and holds the energy around a vision, delineates the path to its creation and then clears the path for all parties involved to be able to bring that vision into 3-dimensional reality.  

Further, the leader is responsible for creating, developing and sustaining the relationships that will establish and maintain forward movement of the learning community.  The quality of these relationships and the degree to which they are nurtured and allowed to flourish defines the organization in that it creates the climate for realization of the vision.

Through recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of the participants in the creative process and applying the most effective leadership style to any given situation, the leader exerts influence by developing others and supporting them in their roles within the organization as well as in their personal spiritual journeys toward self-actualization and the ultimate goal of ascension.  The leader becomes servant to the follower enabling success at every level. At various times a participant may need a directive style, a coaching style, a supporting style, or an achievement-oriented /delegating style.  The choice of style depends on the task at hand and factors such as personality that surround the task.

The ultimate questions the leader should ask are “Does this empower this stakeholder (teacher, parent, student, support staff) to move forward in their growth both as a part of the learning organization as well as in their personal lives?” and “Is this in line with the vision and mission of our organization?”

The educational leader must always endeavour to separate ego from truth in herself and guide others to do the same.  A willingness to change and grow is an imperative for the leader and bringing forth that same willingness and desire in followers and students is paramount for the creation of a positive atmosphere of learning and growth.

Learning is not purely academic. In fact, academic learning should be complementary to the true learning tasks of the human spirit which are to realize fully their potential as beings of pure light and love and ultimate creators.  Light Way Schools is devoted to the path of ascension.  Our school is not about math, science and reading although we embrace and honor those interests and pursuits.  Our school is about human growth and development along the path of ascension and awareness.

The educational leader embodies the philosophy and goals of the organization.  All look to the leader for guidance and example.  If I wish to witness behaviors of respect, personal empowerment, personal responsibility, joy in learning, patience, love, ease and joy then I must live those principles. 

 I AM the change I wish to see in the world.
