Profile of a Light Way Lead Learner

Being a lead learner will certainly not be the easiest task you have ever undertaken, but it could be one of the most rewarding. Please do not apply if you are looking for a traditional job to pay your bills.  This is not it. Light Way is a mission of change and innovation. Missions take dedication and many hours of passionate work to be fulfilled.  Expectations are high. If you are still interested, keep reading.

What Is A Lead Learner?

A Light Way lead learner is one who loves to spend time with children guiding them in their learning and playing. A lead learner self-educates, is courageous, dedicated, innovative, a risk-taker, open-minded, caring, responsible, determined, inventive, collaborative, inquisitive, energetic, and healthy.

A lead learner is fully aligned with our mission and has done much personal work in clearing old programming and liniting thought patterns. A lead learner is also dedicated to continuing that work.

A lead learner is open to learning from children, able to share power with them and give up their role as THE authority in the classroom.

A lead learner is also already following a healthy, mostly chemical free lifestyle eating healthful foods and avoiding addictions - not just while at Light Way.

He/she should be able to create a sacred space to hold the energy for children to feel completely safe and nurtured.

A lead learner must be willing to grow spiritually and have a strong desire to create a new way of living on Planet Earth.  We mean this literally.  There is no “well we could do it if..” or “Well that would be nice…but it’ll never happen.”  We are doing it.

What Does It Take To Become A Certified Lead Learner?

To become a fully certified Light Way lead learner takes strong determination, a will to be of service, dedication to creating a new paradigm in education, hard work, training, a willingness to grow and be challenged, a LOVE of children and ability to PLAY.

A certified lead learner must participate in a minimum of three conferences yearly and ongoing training of at least 40 hours per year.

The certification process itself is modeled after the Fielding University Doctoral program consisting of applied and theoretical studies in eight knowledge areas such as

  • Child Development
  • Curriculum Theory and Practice
  • Esoteric/Metaphysical Studies

The program can take up to two years to complete.  It will not be as rigorous or demanding as the doctoral program, however, it will be highly self-directed and will require much self-motivation.

Is It Necessary To Be Certified To Teach At Light Way?

Currently lead learner certification is not required neither is a state teaching certificate because we do not believe that certification is a guarantee of talent, passion, and awareness.  However, a minimum of 40 hours of pre-service training must be concluded prior to service. Training will be provided by Light Way Schools. Time spent in classroom preparation and planning does not count towards service hours.

Certification is a big step requiring much time and commitment.  Therefore, we allow lead learners one year to determine if it is the path for them.  After one year of working at Light Way, a lead learner must make the decision to become certified or to move on and find a place that better suits their philosophy.

Salary: commensurate with experience and passion.
